Materials science is an interdisciplinary scientific research on the relationship between the composition, structure, manufacturing technology, processing and properties of the material. The sciences involved in the study are mainly in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Usually the object of study is solid material, then liquid, gaseous.
The properties to be studied are the structure, electrical, magnetic, thermal, optical, mechanical, or a combination of those properties with the purpose of creating materials to satisfy technical needs. Many of the most pressing scientific problems humans currently face are due to the limits of the materials that are available and how they are used. Thus, breakthroughs in materials science are likely to affect the future of technology significantly.
Materials science
Materials science is a highly active area of research. Together with materials science departments, physics, chemistry and many engineering departments are involved in materials research. Materials research covers a broad range of topics such as nanomaterials, semiconductor, etc. And such fabrications are indispensable the vacuum equipment such as CVD, ALD, PVD...
